Read This Newsletter Phil Burress is leading a great effort against the supplier of illegal hardcore pornography to hotel chains. He and the others involved deserve our thanks.  Imagine the impact that a federal prosecution of LodgeNet would have!  LodgeNet could be prosecuted under the Federal RICO law, which would allow the government, upon conviction, to take most all their assets in a forfeiture action and thus assure that they stay out of the porn business.  DOJ’s obscenity prosecution efforts are led by a tremendous former U.S. Attorney, Brent Ward, who has the ability, the resources, and the tools necessary for a successful prosecution.  Yet, it appears that he would not be permitted, under current DOJ policy to prosecute a major obscenity violator such as this one.  He is limited by his superiors to prosecutions that involve only small violators of the most extreme material. On August ninth, family advocates will meet with former prosecutors of hard core pornography and call on the Department of Justice to investigate and prosecute LodgeNet. Daniel Weiss with Focus on the Family Action says there’s a lot riding on the outcome. Top Hotel Cable Supplier Called to Task for Porn Involvement

In fact, out of the nine factors being measured by Pew as essential to success in marriage, children came in next to last. A mere 41 percent of those responding to the Pew survey said that children are important to a good marriage. In contrast, in 1990 fully 65 percent of respondents claimed that children are part of a good marriage. Kids and marriage no longer inseparable

Family Concerns

Joyce MeyerThe Battles Did you know that we are in a war every day? We see the casualties everywhere—people falling from disease, divorce and tragedy. Looking around at all the suffering, we may think the battles in hospitals and divorce courts are being lost. But in reality, we’re losing the advanced and more important conflict—the battle in our minds.

Each day our minds are bombarded with a constant stream of nagging thoughts, suspicions, doubts and fears. While any one of these can cause defeat and devastation, we are often plagued by more than one…filling our daily lives with mental combat against an array of aggressors.
