Laura Bush advocates a recent survey indicates that young people view human relationships, most especially family ties, as the greatest cause of happiness in life, ABC News reports.
The survey, which was conducted by Knowledge Networks Inc. for the Associated Press and MTV, took place from April 16 to 23 and interviewed 1,280 people between the ages of 13 and 24. Using online interviews, the survey asked over 100 questions relating to the nature of happiness for American young people.
Participants were asked an open-ended question about what gives happiness, and the hands-down winning answer (given by 20% of young people) was "spending time with family." In fact a total of 73% said that their relationship with their parents makes them happy. "They're my foundation. My mom tells me that even if I do something stupid, she's still going to love me no matter what.

Indiscretions NO ONE, it seems, is ready to step up and condemn Kevin Rudd for his indiscretion in visiting a New York strip joint while on official business observing the UN four years ago. This is perhaps not surprising. After all, Australians are pretty tolerant of people getting drunk and doing stupid things. And on the precedents established by other politicians, going to a strip club hardly rates alongside being trouserless in Memphis, having affairs with colleagues or journalists and the many other sex crimes and misdemeanours that are part of the political legend both here and in other Western democracies.

Be Content The Bible clearly teaches us to "be content" no matter what our circumstances are. In Philippians 4:11 Paul said, "I have learned in whatsoever state I am in therewith to be content". The Amplified Bible describes being content as "satisfied to the point where you are not disturbed or disquieted". It doesn't say satisfied to the point where you don't want change, but satisfied for now until God brings the change. Philippians 4:6-7 sheds more light in this area by saying, "Have no anxiety about anything, but in all things by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, continue to let God know what you want", and verse 7 "the peace that passes understanding shall keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus". Allow me to paraphrase these scriptures in my language for you. Don't be upset about anything, no matter what is happening. Pray about it, and tell God your need. How To Be Content |
