  Disgusting Latrines

While asking for homosexual sex in bathrooms can cost you a job in the U.S. Senate, condoning those same acts in Florida apparently makes you fit for leadership--at least in the minds of some. When Mayor Jim Naugle took an aggressive stance against public sex in Ft. Lauderdale restrooms, the city commissioners got angry and voted him out of the Tourism Development Council. It all started earlier this summer when Naugle noticed the increase in arrests for public indecency. He offered plans to make the park restrooms safe for families and free of homosexual vulgarity. Although Naugle--a Democrat--said it's all part of the effort to curb Ft. Lauderdale's HIV rate, the city's liberals lashed out at him, claiming that he's harming the city's "gay-friendly" reputation and costing them millions of dollars in tourism. But, as Naugle said, "[This is] what happens

when you have too much political correctness and too much of this notion of tolerance that we're having to accept everything." We're encouraged that Naugle stood up for the health and safety of Florida's families. It's refreshing to see a leader who cares more about the city's moral bankruptcy than its tourist revenue.

Fields Decency Goes AWOL  Pundits have compared the poisonous slander against Gen. Petraeus to Sen. Joseph McCarthy's smear of Gen. George C. Marshall in 1951. Where is that crusty old Boston lawyer Joseph Welch, who famously demanded of Joe McCarthy: "Sir, have you no decency?" Decency is an old-fashioned virtue fusing manners and morals, and it often seems to have gone AWOL in the modern world. Decency once served as guide for both public and private behavior. In our free-for-all politics, when anything goes, where conflicts on Capitol Hill have long since lost all trace of civility, it's a virtue rarely recalled. That's too bad. We need an honest and robust debate about the war. But when every debating point is dismissed as a lie and every adversary is scorned as a liar, debate becomes impossible. Dante's eighth circle becomes a crowded place. When Decency Goes AWOL

THE HARM While in Houston, we find Harris County -- Judge Ed Emmett rightfully concerned about Sexually Transmitted Diseases for the wives of husbands who use the "Glory Holes" near the restrooms at the topless bars.  These husbands don't seem to mind their hidden partners, only the addiction. Some men grow-up without boundaries, and it is really taking a toll on family values.  The addiction for pornography is out of control, as this "thrill" is off the charts.

Family Concerns

I once made a disastrous mistake and asked my husband, Dave, for the last bite of his hamburger. If there’s anything hard for a man to sacrifice, it's that last bite. It's much easier to give somebody the first bite because he still has so much of it left, but when he’s down to the last bite, it's tough. I didn't realize before how much of a test it could be, especially for Dave.

Our exchange began as usual, with his offer, "I'm going to stop here and get a hamburger. Do you want one?
