LAS VEGAS — A young girl who was seen being sexually assaulted in a homemade videotape has been found and is safe with relatives and sheriff's officials, authorities said Friday."She looks like a very happy 7-year-old girl," Nye County sheriff's Detective David Boruchowitz said at a news conference late Friday. She was 3 when the tape was made, he said. Chester Arthur Stiles, who was previously being sought for questioning, is now considered a suspect but remains at large, Nye County Sheriff Tony DeMeo said.Stiles has tenuous ties to the family through friends, Boruchowitz said. The crime took place in Las Vegas, where the girl was found, DeMeo said. The girl's mother recognized furniture and a television from scenes in the videotape, and she was cooperating with the investigation, he said."The mother was not aware of anything that went on with this young girl," he said.7-year-old victim found safe and sound

DONOR COUNTRIES promised nearly $10 billion to the Global Fund to fight AIDS, tuberculosis and malaria over the next three years at a meeting on Thursday. Campaigners said the pledges were welcome but fell short of the long-term needs of the multilateral Fund, which provides resources for projects to fight the three diseases it says claim 6 million lives a year. Former U.N. Secretary-General Kofi Annan said the total amount pledged for 2008-2010 was $9.7 billion."This is a good day for global health, for millions of poor people who are affected by these three diseases," Annan told a news conference.

PENALIZING LICENSED The Justice Department has notified the Supreme Court that it will be filing an appeal seeking to restore the government's power to penalize licensed broadcasters for airing "fleeting expletives" -- especially, "the F-Word," even if it is uttered only a single time during a broadcast and even if it is used to provide emphasis or exaggeration rather than to describe a sex act. U.S. Solicitor General Paul D. Clement disclosed that plan in an application filed Monday, seeking more time to prepare the petition (Application 07A155). The deadline for the filing is now set at Nov. 1, under an order issued on Monday by Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

CULTURAL REVOLUTION The generations that have been formed in the of the 1960s are in some respects deeply alienated from a strong traditional model of Christian faith in the West. They are refractory to the sexual disciplines which were part of the good Christian life as understood, for instance, in the nineteenth-century Evangelical revivals in English-speaking countries. Indeed, the contemporary swing goes beyond just repudiating these very high standards.

Solid Foundation Every structure needs to have a solid foundation. Whether it’s a forty-five-story skyscraper or a one-story house, everything must be built on a strong, stable base. The same is true of our Christian life. Without a strong foundation, our walk with the Lord will be weak, wobbly and unstable. Many of us have tried to build our faith in God without the proper foundation. As a result, our lives have been filled with confusion and frustration. I believe two of the main reasons why we don’t have the solid spiritual foundation we need is because we don’t know who we are in Christ, and we lack a clear understanding of things like repentance and faith. Do You Have a Crack in Your Foundation?
