    Every Taxonomic Twig

New York Times tries to make the case that sexual promiscuity is only natural. The news features one disgraced official after another — all caught in infidelity. More than 8 in 10 Americans believe adultery is a sin, according to a recent study. And 9 in 10 say faithfulness is the key to a successful marriage. But The New York Times says adultery is only natural. "It’s been done by many other creatures, tens of thousands of other species, by male and female representatives of every taxonomic twig on the great tree of life," the newspaper reports. "Sexual promiscuity is rampant throughout nature, and true faithfulness a fond fantasy." Dr. Bill Maier, vice president and psychologist in residence at Focus on the Family, said there's a difference between humans and the "tens of thousands of other species.""The Times article makes a huge philosophical assumption," he said, "that human beings are simply another animal species, and therefore it should be no surprise when they engage in behavior common to other members of the animal kingdom. But the Christian worldview offers a radically different perspective — that humans are made in the very image of God, actually reflecting aspects of His character and nature. "Unlike rodents and flatworms, we are capable of rational thought and moral decision-making." FOR MORE INFORMATION Why does marriage matter?

RESURRECTION WEEK Ft. Bragg is an army base with a population of over 43,000 soldiers, not counting their dependents, and home to the 82nd Airborne. Chaplain White invited Anne Graham Lutz to speak to the wives, many of whom have husbands deployed in Iraq.  She reminded them of the Holy Spirit received after accepting Jesus as Savior, who, then will never leave us nor forsake us.  Following the meeting, this young soldier who had slipped in to listen, asked her to sign his copy of I Saw The LORD. How can we see the LORD?  She continued - How do you and I open our eyes to the Invisible? It’s not just hard, it’s impossible!  We can’t! Not on our own. God has to help us, but at the same time we have to be willing to allow Him to work in our lives.  And the eyes that need to be opened are not the eyes in our heads, but the eyes of our hearts. I wonder if God has been wanting to reveal Himself to you, as He has to me this past year, but you haven’t been “looking”? Are you blinded to God’s glory because it has come in an unlikely package? One year for my birthday, my mother sent me a package wrapped in plain brown paper.  When I opened it, there was a gaudy, multicolored straw basket inside, stuffed with tissue paper.  I  actually thought my mother had totally lost her good senses!  The postage to mail the basket would have cost more than the basket!  I tossed out the tissue paper, wondered what in the world I was going to do with the basket, then called to thank her for her “gift.” Mother laughed when I thanked her for the basket, then asked what I thought about what was inside it. I told her nothing was inside except tissue paper, and I had thrown that out. She responded urgently, “Oh, no, Anne! Inside that tissue paper is your real birthday gift!” Reporting Further

HOMESCHOOLING IN GERMANY In September 2006, the European Court of Human Rights outlawed homeschooling in Germany, and homeschooling families have been threatened with state seizure of their children and imprisonment. The Alliance Defense Fund has become involved in the defense of homeschoolers in that country, knowing that all too often, groups hostile to religious liberty in America are looking to the decisions of foreign courts as a resource for imposing their secular agenda here. And now, after a recent ruling at the California Court of Appeal, parents face an ominous state mandate regarding the education of their children: The court ruled – in an opinion that went far beyond what was necessary to decide the case – that parents have no legal right to homeschool their children in California, effectively stripping moms and dads of the right to direct their own children's education. If parents insist on educating their children at home, they could be found guilty of a crime. This ruling is in strong tension with a U.S. Supreme Court 9-0 decision in Pierce vs. Society of the Sisters of the Holy Names of Jesus (1925), where the court reaffirmed parental rights and stated, "The child is not the mere creature of the state." The Court noted that the state of Oregon had unreasonably interfered with the liberty of parents by forcing parents to place their children in public schools. This concept was further strengthened by a Supreme Court decision in Wisconsin vs. Yoder (1972), where the court declared, "The primary role of the parents in the upbringing of their children is now established beyond debate as an enduring American tradition." Under the California court's ruling, the sole way a California parent can lawfully educate their children at home is if they possessed a valid state teaching certificate. ADF Senior Legal Counsel David Cortman provided an appropriate response to this decree:"[Parents] should not have to get a special degree in education just to teach their own kids," said Cortman. "What began in Germany has come to the U.S.
