SAN ANGELO, Texas — For four frustrating years, an informant fed Sheriff David Doran information about the polygamist sect that built a compound in the West Texas desert not far from his office in Eldorado. But those milling about the 1,700-acre compound would scatter whenever he and a Texas Ranger visited, leaving them without the concrete evidence they needed to open a criminal investigation, Doran said Thursday as authorities defended their decision to leave the sect alone after it moved in 2004. "I have no regrets because we never received any outcry, a complaint. There was no evidence of illegal activity nor an offense in plain view," he said. "You can always suspect something, but until you get something that puts you on that property, there's not a whole lot you can do." A raid was finally triggered April 3, after a family violence shelter received a hushed phone call from a terrified 16-year-old girl saying her 50-year-old husband had beaten and raped her. State troopers put into action the plan they had on the shelf to enter the compound, and 416 children, most of them girls, were swept into state custody on suspicions that they were being sexually and physically abused. Doran said it was not until after the raid began that he learned that the sect was marrying off underage girls at the compound and had a bed in its soaring limestone temple where the girls were required to immediately consummate their marriages. A number of teenage girls are pregnant, investigators said. It had been no secret that the sect believed in |

marrying off underage girls to older men, and authorities believed the group was capable of abuse, Doran said. "But there again, this is the United States," he said. "We are going to respect them. We're not going to violate their civil rights until we get an outcry." Had there been one earlier, authorities would have acted as they did last week, Doran said. "We would have done it in a heartbeat," he said. Authorities in Texas suspected there would be trouble ever since members of the renegade Mormon splinter group — the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints — bought an exotic game ranch and began building. UNDERMINDING THE LAW Last count, Houston has about 350 Sexually Oriented Businesses. While HPD Vice is still taking applications for licensing topless dancers and managers of some clubs except those slated for shutdown like the
Colorado Bar & Grill, The Men's Club, at least five other large businesses helped in the litigation effort, including the Ritz Cabaret, Treasures, Trophy Club, Gold Cup and Centerfolds, whose applications are being denied. On March 17, Houston's SOBs lost an 11-year fight to overturn a city ordinance when the US Supreme Court refused to hear their case. The city spent nearly 1.8 million dollars to defend the 1500 foot rule passed in l997. Beyond understanding, reporters from Bloomberg News and the Houston Chronicle claim Houston has paid the huge fees to Patrick Zummo (attorney for city), so that 11 or 38 clubs will be shutdown. The reporters never interviewed a conservative person or organization originally, but are now working with the HOUSTON AREA ASSOCIATION FOR DECENCY with open records and investigation so that a full and honest picture can speak for families. After reading several print articles, It would appear that someone interviewed is trying to undermine the numbers being shutdown for the SOBs even over and above the huge news from the US Supreme Court. Further, during the 11 years of litigation, the lovers of porn feeding from these SOBs who have an addiction for pornography, have become sex predators. In the meantime while we wait for the closing of about 250 SOBs, HPD calls-for-service from the SOBs uses at least 30% of the Houston's small police force in controlling them. Furthermore, why haven't the males been arrested along wtih the topless bar girls, along with the prostitutes arrested, along with the underage prostitutes and the rest? A reality check should be forthcoming, after all, family values are the real glue for all of our cities, as we hold our

elected officials accountable. And the longer the SOBs in violation are kept open -- new recruiting procedures for HPD officers being trained at the Police Academy should also INCLUDE conservative outsider trainers in order for HPD to be user- friendly for females, because currently 79% of rapes go unreported due to the predators created from pornography. The SOBs in violation must be shutdown quickly and completely.. |

Three out of four Americans support the vigorous enforcement of federal obscenity laws, according to a recent survey by the Morality in Media. Robert Peters, president of Morality in Media, said Americans are not accepting of pornography — despite what the mainstream media present. “Just because there’s a lot of pornography around doesn’t mean the American people accept it," he said. The poll results were released on the heels of the most recent federal obscenity charges. The U.S. Department of Justice announced this week the indictment of a California resident on charges of operating an obscenity-distribution business and other offenses. Pornography distributor John Stagliano and two of his companies were charged by a federal grand jury with multiple counts of selling and distributing obscene films to the public. If convicted, Stagliano faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison on each obscenity count. The corporations face a maximum fine of $500,000 per count. Daniel Weiss, senior analyst for media and sexuality at Focus on the Family Action, said he was pleased by the indictment but concerned about the type of material being targeted. "Early indications lead us to believe this material is once again the 'worst of the worst,’” he said. “The Justice Department does nothing to stop the mainstreaming of pornography by only prosecuting material at the extreme edge of society." Peters agreed that this case is good news, but said there haven't been enough obscenity prosecutions to make a difference. “The case is an important obscenity case, but standing alone it isn’t going to stem the tide of obscenity,” he said. “They’ve just got to do more cases, or the pornographers are going to win.” Weiss noted this is just the third federal obscenity case in a year — a pace that does little to stop the proliferation of illegal pornography. |

MARINE FOUND MORELIA, Mexico — A Marine suspected of killing a pregnant colleague told police he slept in fields and survived by eating fruit that he found during a three-month manhunt that ended with his arrest in western Mexico, authorities said. Working with FBI agents, police in the small town of Tacambaro arrested Cpl. Cesar Laurean on Thursday. He is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Marine Lance Cpl. Maria Lauterbach, who had accused him of rape. Her burned remains were found in January in the backyard of his home near Camp Lejeune. "It doesn't bring Maria back. Nothing can replace the pain of that loss," Lauterbach's mother, Mary, said in a statement released Friday. "At the same time, we know that Maria would want justice to be done in this case and we know that this is an important step in that process." Fugitive Marine Captured |
