    Cellar Monster Further Revealed

 

   

VIENNA, Austria —  Cellar monster Josef Fritzl has admitted he kept his mom bricked up in a locked room “for years” until she died. Incest dad Fritzl, 74, told a psychologist it was revenge for abuse he claims he received at her hands. He said: “I never had any love from her. She used to beat me, hit me until I was lying in a pool of blood on the floor. I never had a kiss. I was never cuddled.” Local council files showed Fritzl inherited the home in Amstetten, Austria in 1959 “because his mother had died." He locked her in an attic room where she is said to have died in 1980. No neighbors remember seeing her over the 21 years. Fritzl told Dr. Adelheid Kastner: “I bricked in the window so that she never again saw the light of day.” Fritzl later fathered seven children by daughter Elisabeth, 42, who he locked in a cellar at their home for 24 years. Three lived upstairs with him and wife Rosemarie, 69. The others were kept with their mom. Asked if locking up his mom had given him the idea for caging Elisabeth, Fritzl said: “To be honest I just didn’t think about it, about her being my daughter." “I saw her as my wife and as my partner.” Kastner has prepared a report for Fritzl’s trial starting next February. An American A Texas woman went to a housing auction distraught about the prospect of watching strangers bid on her foreclosed home. Then one of those strangers bought it back for her. Now Tracy Orr can return to her Pottsboro home, making payments to the woman who unexpectedly and impulsively bought it for her. "It means so much to all of us," Orr told Dallas television station WFAA. "It's not just a house."  Marilyn Mock said she was acting on instinct on Saturday when she decided to buy a house she had never seen for a woman she had never met. Mock was at the foreclosure auction to help her 27-year-old son bid on a house when she struck up a conversation with Orr, who was crying about losing her home. Orr had bought the house for $80,000 in 2004 but fell behind on the payments. She lost her job a month after taking out the loan, and earlier this year she lost the house. On the spot, Mock decided to buy it, eventually bidding $30,000.  "She didn't even know if I had a job or was a nut case," Orr said in a story for Wednesday's online edition of The Dallas Morning News. "She didn't even see a picture of the house."  Mock told a crying Orr she could stay in the house, making

  

payments to her instead of a bank. "She needed help. That   was it," Mock told the newspaper. "I just happened to be there and anybody else would have done the same thing."  Orr said she hopes others will do as Mock did. "More than my house, she gave me something inside, and that's more important than material or financial things," she said. The two are waiting on final approval from Fannie Mae before visiting the home.  Mock's son also got a home at the auction.
 
 
 

Uphold the Constitution Well, now we know why Barack Obama’s been so reluctant to have symbols of this country associated with his campaign.  No flags on his airplane.  Nix to pins on his lapel.  Not inclined to put his hand over his heart during the national anthem.  After all, it turns out he has a problem with that other slightly more significant representation of our nation, the United States Constitution.  Just as he tried to prove to everyone that his patriotism was demonstrated by the lack of symbols of the United States, so he is now arguing that his passion for the Constitution is demonstrated by his commitment to shredding it. The Drudge Report and other legitimate investigative sources like the National Review, have exposed the most damning evidence yet of Barack Obama’s utter disregard for the core principles of the United States government.  In a radio interview given in 2001, Obama reveals yet again about what he means by ‘equality,’ when he says, “…the Supreme Court never entered into the issues of redistribution of wealth, and sort of more basic issues of political and economic justice in this society.” Read On

 

UNDECIDEDS If current survey trends continue, Obama will finish with less than 50 percent in the polls. Even discounting the Nader vote (some people never learn), the undecided voters could tip the race either way. How will they break? Since there is no incumbent, they cannot automatically be assigned to the challenger; and since turnout is likely to be huge, the current undecided voters will probably make their way to the polls and cast their ballots. But for whom? At the beginning of this contest, Obama effectively made the case that the election was a referendum on Bush's performance in office. Painting a vote for McCain as a desire for "four more years of the same failed policies," he made the most of Bush's dismal approval rating. Had he been able to keep the focus on Bush, he would likely have inherited most of the undecided vote. But as Obama surged into a more or less permanent lead in October, animated by the financial crisis, he has assumed many of the characteristics of an incumbent. Every voter asks himself one question before he or she casts a ballot: Do I want to vote for Obama? His uniqueness, charisma and assertive program have so dominated the dialogue that the election is now a referendum on Obama. Undecideds Should Break for McCain

 
 

A PERFECT STORM Some elections are routine, some are important and some are historic. If Senator John McCain wins this election, it will probably go down in history as routine. But if Senator Barack Obama wins, it is more likely to be historic-- and catastrophic. Once the election is over, the glittering generalities of rhetoric and style will mean nothing. Everything will depend on performance in facing huge challenges, domestic and foreign. Performance is where Barack Obama has nothing to show for his political career, either in Illinois or in Washington. Policies that he proposes under the banner of "change" are almost all policies that have been tried repeatedly in other countries-- and failed repeatedly in other countries. Politicians telling businesses how to operate? That's been tried in countries around the world, especially during the second half of the 20th century. It has failed so often and so badly that even socialist and communist governments were freeing up their markets by the end of the century. A Perfect Storm
