1. You are a student of history. Will you please remind us what the first Thanksgiving was all about?
The tradition introduced by European Americans of Thanksgiving as a time to focus on God and His blessings dates back over four centuries. But it is primarily from the Pilgrim’s Thanksgiving celebration of 1621 that we derive the tradition of Thanksgiving Day. Read On |

Not surprisingly, many voters who cast their ballots for Barack Obama for president had no idea what he believed, what his voting record was or what his priorities would be as president. The YouTube videos showing voters’ ignorance during the just-completed election would be hilarious if they were not so sad. The “Emperor” leading the presidential polls had no clothes, but who would speak out? The nation’s opinion leaders threw up smoke screens that protected the public from the reality. The media certainly was not going to expose the nakedness of its crown prince. His opposition kept looking the other way. The cheering crowds clothed him to suit their individual preferences.
I watched the third and final debate in dismay. We tuned in to CNN because they carried an on-screen chart to display the reactions of 25-30 uncommitted voters set up backstage who had agreed to indicate their minute-by-minute reactions to the two candidates’ remarks by turning a dial to indicate their degree of positive or negative response to the comments of the presidential candidates. You may remember that Nancy Reagan fought against drug consumption by urging Americans to "just say no." Now we need Mrs. Reagan again because some poorly run corporations are asking for taxpayer bailouts and loans. They want charity from hardworking Americans who are getting pounded in a chaotic economy primarily caused by irresponsible businesspeople. The situation is totally out of control. Leaders of the three major American car companies showed up on Capitol Hill this week stating that if billions in government loans were not forthcoming, they would go bankrupt. And how did many of these executives get to Washington from Detroit? By private jet, of course. Paging Imelda Marcos. The reason the car companies are in such bad shape is that they cannot compete with Toyota and other foreign automakers. Gov. Mitt Romney, whose father ran American Motors Corp., says that union contractual obligations add about $2,000 to each American car above what a corresponding Toyota would cost. Romney says... Stealth Jihad: How Islam is Infiltrating Your Neighborhood
What if Christians demanded the following: 1. If anyone around Christians at work or school eats pork then they would get fired or severely chastised because we believe that scarfing down pig really offends God (and of course his people). Yep, BLTs—according to our take on Christ’s commands—really ticks him off and therefore bacon should be banned. Not only that, but any food that has even trace amounts of Porky the Pig in it must be verboten and banished from our presence everywhere we go because we’re Christians, and Christians don’t dine on swine. This means Jell-O shots at Tu-Tu-Tango’s and Jell-O served to kids at school ceases to be because Jell-O, hello, contains a wee little bit of a wee little pig, and this pisseth the Lord our God off! 2. All public schools must have several regularly scheduled 15 minute breaks throughout the school day for Christians to roll out their TBN prayer rugs and pray for revival. If not, we will raise Cain and Abel. 3. Public schools must become sex-segregated so that we, the washed, sanctified, filled with the Holy Ghost and fire crowd won’t be sorely tempted to swap spit with the hot Daisy Mae looking chick in pottery class. Matter of fact, why don’t public schools just carve out for us Christians a special school within the school, lest we become sullied via association with the unwashed masses and other religious persuasions, which we utterly detest. Howzabout that, mamasita? Stealth Jihad: How Islam is Infiltrating Your Neighborhood

Pornography - Quitting the habit The damage from pornography addiction runs deep, but one
author has found freedom through Christ.Author and speaker Jarrod Jones has written a book called 13 Ways to Ruin Your Life. In his travels, he has been amazed at the number of Christians who admit to having a problem with pornography. "Messages have bombarded them, as well the temptations of sexual sin have come upon them so powerfully," he notes. "Through the testimonies they share with me, I have been shocked at how many have felt the openness to share with me their struggle with pornography -- I'm talking from ministers to married men, businessmen, men in ministry, young men."
Jones personally struggled through the damaging effects of pornography addiction and the subsequent loss of a relationship. He calls the Bible a starting place and the central focus of recovery. "Proverbs 7, which deals with watching a young man falling into sexual sin and what it's going to cost him, and it's going to ruin his life," he explains.
13 Ways is not a tell-all book, but Jones uses his personal experiences to illustrate how Christ can change a person. "With those battles in my life and those experiences, I discovered that...Jesus began changing [those desires] because of his Spirit within me," he adds. "My desires were to be more about him, and with my mind, with my eyes, with my ears, with my body, and to pursue him in that way."
Pornography, according to Jones, is no easy addiction to shake, but he says Christ can break the chains of sin. His book can be purchased at 13WaystoRuinYourLife.com, or it can be downloaded for free. |
