BOULDER, COLO. — An arrest that initially brought relief to the family of JonBenet Ramsey has since unleashed an onslaught of unwelcome attention that has incensed the slain girl's father, a longtime family lawyer said Saturday.

Even since authorities were preparing to extradite John Mark Karr, a teacher who admitted involvement in the 6-year-old's death a decade ago, her father was hounded by camera crews Friday and after as he took his son to college at Purdue University, attorney Lin Wood said. Boulder District Attorney Mary Lacy suggested that authorities moved against Karr sooner than they might have wanted. "There are circumstances that may exist in any case which mandate an arrest before an investigation is complete," Lacy said. "The primary reason is public safety. A secondary reason is flight."

Fewer High School Students Having Sex

August 11, 2006--Fewer U.S. high school students are having sex, and the ones who do are less likely to have multiple partners, according to a report issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Some 46.8 percent of students said they engaged in sexual intercourse in a 2005 survey, down from 54.1 percent in 1991, according to the report. Some 14.3 percent of students in 2005 said they have had multiple partners, defined as sex with four different people during one's lifetime. That figure is down from 18.7 percent in 1991. At the same time, the number of students who say they used a condom the last time they had intercourse rose to 62.8 percent in 2005 from ! 46.2 percent in 1991, the survey said. .
