Resolution on the Impact of Violence and Pornography adopted by the 127th Supreme Convention on Aug. 6, 2009, and declared by
Supreme Knight Carl A. Anderson
- Knights of Columbus.
WHEREAS, modern society has become saturated with sexually explicit, violent and profane materials, in movies, on television, in video games and especially on the Internet, where there are more than four million pornographic Web sites and as much as 35 percent of all Web content is pornographic; and

WHEREAS, pornography has become a $12 billion a year industry and is now a major source of revenue for organized crime; and
WHEREAS, the costs to society are enormous, and include infidelity, broken marriages, both direct and indirect harm to children and a general breakdown of moral standards of every sort; and
WHEREAS, violence and pornography in the media are an assault on the fundamental human dignity of every person, and especially victimize women and children;
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Knights of Columbus calls upon law enforcement officials at all levels to vigorously investigate and prosecute criminal conduct in this area, especially child pornography; and Read On |

Study of people who have struggled free from homosexuality leads to calls for more research.
A study showing that sexual orientation is changeable and that attempts to change are not harmful was presented at the annual convention of the American Psychological Association (APA) in Toronto on Sunday.
Conducted by Dr. Stanton Jones, provost professor of psychology at Wheaton College, and Dr. Mark Yarhouse, professor of psychology at Regent University, the research looked at a group of individuals involved in the Exodus program over a period of seven years. DEFENSE: Family Dog Could've Mutilated A Houston couple argued over whether to have their 5-week-old infant circumcised the day before his mother cut off the boy's penis and testicles, leaving a perfectly square wound and a childhood of reconstructive surgeries, prosecutors told a jury Monday.
“Now he's more than circumcised,” Assistant District Attorney Denise Oncken said.
Oncken said Katherine Nadal, 28, argued for the circumcision after spending the afternoon injecting cocaine. Camden Gothia, 38, testified that he argued against it because of the pain it appears to cause. Read On |
