The baby boomers are trotting out the celebrations for the 40th anniversary of the "Summer of Love," complete with all that soggy and groggy Woodstock nostalgia. Perhaps the singular statement of that summer was the music and the open celebration of "free love."
All of which, believe it or not, is preferable to what is on the air this summer.
Start with the big hit "Birthday Sex," which brought quick fame (which is to say, infamy) to a singer named Jeremih. (Why must these people always celebrate illiteracy?) His basic lyric is "Don't need candles and cake / Just need your body to make / Birthday sex." But Jeremih also elaborates about how he wants sex in the kitchen, on a waterbed and so on. It's an audio porn movie.
Interestingly, and sadly, few can be found to disapprove of foisting these "adult situation" lyrics on children. Radio station managers are, as a group, completely apathetic. But school administrators? Read On |

I passed the beautiful gray house for years. Only when older did I realize it was a women’s shelter. Never did I dream I’d darken the door or that my safety would depend on it.
I walked sheepishly through the entrance as my parents followed closely behind. It felt like we were sleep walking, waiting to wake from a nightmare. A woman welcomed us into her office. She used words that felt foreign. Surely I don’t belong here. She pulled out a paper and pen. “Tell me about the relationship. Was it abusive?”
Oh, that word sounded so horrible. I felt the lump in my throat. “I don’t know. I don’t have any permanent injuries.”
For the next thirty minutes she walked through a checklist of items. “Has he hit you, choked you, slapped you, kicked you? …” The words sounded stark and ripped at me, but with each acknowledgement, I began to realize the dangerous life I was living. Only two items on the list remained unchecked. He had not killed a pet, and he had not threatened me with a gun. Thankfully, we didn’t own either of those. Read On |

Once the Obama Administration completed their goal of passing an enormous spending bill with the promise of stimulating our economy, they immediately set their sights on passing legislation to control the health care system throughout the nation.
The Democrats are seeking to replicate the socialized medicine systems of other industrialized nations such as Britain, Canada and Japan, but they are using the tactics of misinformation and stealth to achieve their goal.
"The mainstream news media and liberal politicians are always praising the health care systems in other countries, but they never discuss the nightmare stories emanating from these countries' medical professionals," said political strategist Mike Baker.
"I believe individuals should have the opportunity to select the health insurance policy that best meets his or her needs, which is why I am an original co-sponsor of the Health Care Choice Act. Read On |

Members of Silvio Berlusconi’s entourage are urging the prime minister to seek treatment in a clinic for sex addiction, or do they mean for an addiction for pornography which has made him a sex addict?
The 72-year-old billionaire’s private life has been the focus of a long-running scandal since he attended the 18th birthday party of Noemi Letizia in April.
His wife, Veronica Lario, 53, has demanded a divorce and Patrizia D’Addario, a prostitute, has said she spent a night at Berlusconi’s Rome residence last November — which he has denied.
The Veronica Trend, an updated biography of Lario, a former actress, to be published on Wednesday, tells her side of the story. It is based on interviews with the prime minister’s wife of 19 years. Read On |

UNPROTECTED An AIDS advocacy group filed complaints Thursday with state officials against 16 production companies that show unprotected sex in porn movies.
The AIDS Healthcare Foundation filed the action with the California Division of Occupational Safety and Health, alleging the practice amounts to unsafe behavior in a California workplace.
"We will not stop until there is a policy of requiring condoms to be used in porn," foundation president Michael Weinstein said. Read On

HUNG HIMSELF VANCOUVER, British Columbia — A reality show contestant wanted for murder in the gruesome death and mutilation of his ex-wife was found dead of an apparent suicide after hanging himself in a secluded motel, authorities said.
Police responded to a call Sunday from motel staff about a dead person in Hope, east of Vancouver, and then called investigators who were part of the massive manhunt for Ryan Jenkins, said Sgt. Duncan Pound of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police border integrity unit. The motel manager who found Jenkins hanging from the bar of a clothing rack said a young woman checked him in.
"He was found by a hotel employee hanging in his hotel room," said Farrah Emami, spokeswoman for the Orange County District Attorney's Office in California, which was contact with Canadian police. FoxNews reporting. |
