If Tiger Woods confesses to private acts after they became public -- and takes three months to do so -- should the public accept his confession and forgive him?

Some media critics think last Friday's staged event with a friendly audience that included Woods' mother, his friends and selected journalists was too perfect, too scripted and too much. As if Tiger Woods’s apology last week for his serial philandering wasn’t enough of a public humiliation, several of his former mistresses have agreed to take part in a beauty pageant in which they will compete for a $100,000 (£65,000) prize.

The Tiger Woods Mistress Beauty Pageant, organized by the US shock jock Howard Stern, will be held on March 10.

For much of the past year, the Texas State Board of Education has been considering changes to its social studies curriculum, hearing from community members and debating alterations to the way the state will teach history.

"Bristol is the most famous teenage mother in America," Brenda Hampton, the show's executive producer, said in a statement. "We're thrilled to have her join us, and I think she will bring additional attention of the issues facing teen parents that we've been exploring for a couple of seasons now."

Bristol's pregnancy became public when her mother, then Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, was chosen as the running mate for Republican presidential candidate John McCain. Bristol gave birth to Tripp Easton Mitchell Johnston in December 2008. She had been engaged to the baby's father, Levi Johnston, but the couple broke up. Read On
