ANOTHER ONE The parents of a missing suburban San Diego teenager pleaded for her safe return Monday, a day after authorities arrested a registered sex offender in connection with her disappearance.
The arrest came after about 120 law enforcement officers and 1,400 volunteers scoured Rancho Bernardo Community Park in San Diego Sunday for 17-year-old Chelsea King.

ANOTHER ONE Police in the small Georgia town of Aragon are stepping up the search for Amber Graham, a 14-year-old ninth grader who vanished eight days ago.
U.S. Marshals and the Georgia Bureau of Investigation will be joining what has been a low-key search for the last seven days as concern for the girl’s safety mounts, Aragon Police Captain Dwayne Alexander said.
According to the girl's godmother, Ruthann Battles Dabbs, Amber's mother last saw her in her bedroom at 11:20 p.m. on Saturday Feb. 20. The girl said she would be ready for church in the morning. Amber's mother looked into the room again at 2 a.m. and discovered that the girl was gone and her bedroom window was open. The mother immediately called the police. Read On |

Why in God’s name would ACORN fold its national name and rebrand itself under a new make and model? I thought Bertha Lewis, the L.A. Times, the New York Times, Wade Rathke, Carrot Top, Rachel Maddow, Keith Olbermann, Beelzebub and Ed Schultz declared ACORN to be innocent, lily-white virgins of virtue and truth who were viciously slandered and preyed upon by the crazy college pranksters Hannah Giles and James O’Keefe and that dastardly dude Andrew Breitbart?
It’s really weird, at least to me, that ACORN would fold up the “glorious name” it has worked so long and hard for just because of some little “inconsequential” and “highly edited” videos were thrust upon the public by a couple of twentysomethings and a 41-year-old blogger. Geez, ACORN, stand your ground, mates.
I mean, if I were innocent, as ACORN screams they are, I wouldn’t change my name, blink, flinch, or alter a flippin’ thing but would instead plow on with my head held high, deftly defying all my detractors. Yep, the naysayers could kiss my skinny backside. But that’s just me, and I’m weird.
Be that as it may, ACORN, in an odd move given their overly-declared innocence, has decided to fly under new names. Don’t judge them. Who knows, maybe they are Simon Templar or Madonna fans and are freshly hip to the reinvention thang? Read On |

Lauren Book walks among grimy tents, wooden shanties, cardboard boxes, rusty cars and piles of garbage. On this day, it's quiet under the Julia Tuttle Causeway, except for the deafening drone of cars and trucks barreling over the bridge above.
``This is Homer's house,'' Book says, standing in front of a small wooden door on a wretched shack that looks more like an outhouse than a home. Homer isn't there because he is back in jail. But a handful of other sex offenders and predators who harbor here are busying themselves cleaning up trash and human excrement.
Book has visited this dark and foul-smelling encampment over and over again, about a dozen times in all. Most residents know her name, and she knows many of theirs. . Read On |
